Have you ever thought about filling your freezer full of beef but didn't know where to start?  Not sure how much beef you will actually end up with?  How much freezer space you will actually need?  How much it will actually cost?  Costs for beef can vary greatly but also yield the most for your money.  We know it can also be a bit stressful so here's a breakdown for you that closely resembles what you'll actually be taking home.  

How much beef will I get if I purchase a quarter?

 

Approximately 90 - 100 pounds of beef and will need approximately 3-4 cubic feet of freezer space
Ground hamburger = 50-55 pounds
Short ribs = 4 pounds
Various roasts = 9-12 pounds
Stew meat = 3 pounds
Fajita meat = 2 pounds
Cutlets = 5 pounds
Rib-eye steak = 4-6 pounds
Strip steak & Filets = 4-5 pounds OR T-Bones 6 pounds
Sirloin steak = 4-5 pounds
Shank steak = 4-6 pounds
Costs: Approximately $700.00 - $750.00 price includes 3% bulk discount. $7.27 avg. cost per pound.

How much beef will I get if I purchase a half of a steer?

 

Approximately 190 - 200 pounds of beef and will need approximately 7 cubic feet of freezer space
Ground hamburger = 90-100 pounds
Ground chili meat = 4 pounds
Various roasts = 25 pounds
Stew meat = 6 pounds
Fajita meat = 3-5 pounds
Cutlets = 10 pounds
Rib-eye steak = 10 pounds
Strip steak and Tenderloin Filet = 7 pounds OR T-bone = 10 pounds
Sirloin steak = 8-10 pounds
Short ribs = 4-7 pounds
Brisket = 10-12 pounds
Shank steak = 6-10 pounds
Costs: Approximately $1350.00 - $1375.00 Price includes 5% bulk discount. $6.91 avg. cost per pound.

How much beef will I get if I purchase a whole steer?

 

Approximately 380 - 400 pounds of beef and will need approximately 12-14 cubic feet of freezer space
Double the half steer quantities.
